About the Project

RES is proposing to develop, build and operate a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Project with a capacity of up to 240 megawatts (MW), approximately west of Inwood in the Township of Enniskillen. The Inwood Energy Storage Project (the Project) would provide the provincial electric system with reliability services needed to support increasing electricity demand. This would not involve any on-site electric power generation.

The Project is proposed within the Township of Enniskillen and will seek Municipal Support Confirmation from Enniskillen Council as part of the IESO’s LT2 RFP requirements.

Project Site Map and Key Facts

All Project components together are expected to occupy no more than 12 hectares (30 acres), situated within a single parcel of land. It would be comprised of various technologies allowing the system to charge and discharge electricity on demand.

Project Components:

  • Containerized batteries
  • Inverters
  • Medium voltage transformers
  • Gravel internal access roads
  • Collector and communication cabling
  • Transmission substation
  • Operations and maintenance building

The final layout of the infrastructure within the Project footprint has yet to be confirmed and will be determined through additional engineering studies, equipment procurement, and the Class Environmental Assessment (EA) for Transmission Facilities process. The Project will connect to the existing Hydro One transmission line located immediately north of the proposed Project site.

RES is preparing the project to bid into the IESO Long Term 2 Request for Proposals (LT2 RFP) procurement process in December 2025.
